DVD disk presentation “500 seconds of truth about Ukraine” took place with great success in Kiev. (Video)

On August 14, 2012, the DVD disk presentation “500 seconds of truth about Ukraine” took place in Kiev, in the Ukrainian branch of Institute of the CIS countries, created by the participants of the political club “Alternative” from Kharkov and social movement “Great Russia” with the assistance of the Internet portal “The world and we”.

There were politicians, political scientists, journalists and editors of leading editions on presentation – totally about 35 people, the action was reported by two TV channels. Among them there were Mikhail Pavliv, the political scientist, representative of the Humanitarian Strategy Fund; Igor Kruglov, the member of the Eurasian Academy of television and radio; Rostislav Ishchenko, the political scientist, the president of the Center of the system analysis and forecasting; Vladimir Skachko, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Kiev telegraph”; Dmitry Skvortsov, the journalist; Denis Denisov, the deputy director of the Ukrainian branch of Institute of CIS countries; Evgeny Gorokhovsky, the historian, the Candidate of History; Alexander Dudchak, the Candidate of Economy, the scientific secretary of Institute of socialism problems, the director of International Education Consulting; Vasily Muravitsky, the editor-in-chief of the all Ukraine weekly “New wave”, Sergey Yukhnin, the head of the Simferopol city organization of Party “Russian unity” and others.

The presentation was started by Yury Apuhtin, one of the authors of video reels series, the organizer of social movement “Great Russia”. He noted that the creation of the project pursued the aim of distribution of truthful information about the myths of Ukraine not only among the intellectuals, but, first of all, for the simple viewer. For the solution of this task the video format representation of the shocking facts of history falsification was chosen as the best form, which was systematically carried out for the years of the Ukrainian independence. This approach appeared very successful – project videos were watched already by hundreds thousands audience in the Internet, the facts given in them became the opening for many of them and forced to look differently at the state in which they live.

The project “500 seconds of truth about Ukraine” caused the wide resonance among the nationalists – videos are actively discussed on their sites and forums.
Further the viewing of one of project series was carried out which came to the end with the applause of the audience. Then the discussion about a form of representation of video materials and a sharp orientation of videos was developed between the guests. On the one hand, the offers sounded to do them in softer form. But the majority of the present agreed in opinion that the defiant behavior of Galician nationalists and revival of neo-fascism by them demand an adequate, abrupt reply which contains in the presented video materials. At the end the present thanked the authors, wished them further creative successes and creation of new series in this and subsequent projects.

Vladimir Skachko, editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Kiev telegraph”:

- It is good that at last the group of enthusiasts was engaged in creation of such reels. Some present colleagues pointed to expected historical discrepancies. But mistakes in such issue, as the history of Ukraine, are simply inevitable because it is very difficult to write the history of something nonexistent. It is the same as to try to find the hairless spot in a black cat whom try to find in a dark room and it isn't present there. And here it is – it is impossible to establish who and what flag fastened on “one place” – it is in the history of the country which never existed. How is it possible to resist to our opponents? Including the laughter. They are aggressive, spiteful, forceful, but they can make nothing against the laughter and irony. The laughing person is invincible. All complain that the Russian-speaking majority is amorphous, loyal, changes the soul, language, culture to please the future of the children. We can't condemn our people for it. But those, who have a sense of humour, who can apply it in these videos, do very important work. Because the ridiculed, ironically shown opponent is already the considerable victory, it is multiplication of a pettiness to a zero. They are zero, but so zero twice. And if someone wants to criticize the seen one, let will better look the Ukrainian “television” and the desire to criticize will disappear. I want to say the great human, journalistic, including television thanks to the authors of the project!

Yury Boldyrev, People's Deputy of Ukraine, the fraction of the Party of Regions:

- It is very important that there is a group of the people who have taken the trouble on creation of such video materials, defending the historical truth. I hope that this project will continue the existence and it is very interesting to me. Historical truth, as we know, is relative thing. If the regime changes, it changes also. But in order that the project was convincing, it should state, first of all, the facts, instead of their interpretation. If the project states the facts which are really proved, recognized by scientific community, then it will be very useful. Thus the treatment of these facts can't be timeless – it is necessary to understand an era in which there were these events and how it looked at that time. But such things as fidelity, treachery, friendship, love go through human history and remain invariable. Treachery always remains treachery, fidelity – fidelity. And if the project would be based on such fundamental postulates, so want to express the honor and praise to those who does it.

Unfortunately, the influence of separate videos on people who already all solved for themselves, possibly, will appear insignificant. But such things are important in education of new generations, of course. For example, during 50 years the Soviet power told to children in Galicia that Bandera is accomplice of the Nazis. But as soon as the Soviet power ended, the Galician children began to reproduce not the Soviet model which was offered them at school, but that model which was offered to them by parents in a family. And on the other hand, 20 years of the Ukrainian independence the Ukrainian power offered all children the model in which Russia is an aggressor, the Russians are enslavers, colonialists and the Ukrainian people eternally oppressed by someone.

But when there was split legalization in 2004, it became clear that for a half of Ukraine this model which was imposed by the Ukrainian power, doesn't work. Children learned not that was told at school, but that was told to them in a family - that the Ukrainian nation was never oppressed, but was the participant of big historical processes including the constructions of the Russian Empire that Ukraine took the significant place there.

Therefore such truthful project is important because it should be found a support in it those who thinks as appropriate and younger generation.

- The problem is that there are the advances with nationalists, the tolerant relation to them are carried out. For example, Victor Yanukovych absolutely unduly “makes advances” to them, aspiring to receive the voices in the western regions, but, certainly, he will receive nothing. The right radicals have specific, accurate objective and any arguments don't interest them. They go to this purpose and reached already before that take the most known songs of the Soviet period and blasphemously alter them that it is possible to see in the Internet. It is impossible to suffer further. Therefore, the rise of such project, acting with sharp and open criticism, is absolutely necessary. I completely support your position and that you do. Continue in the same way and we will help you.

The authors of DVD disk “500 seconds of truth about Ukraine” expect to expand the activity considerably, having started the project of independent Internet television this year.
