The chairman of the commission of Parliamentary meeting of the Union of Belarus and Russia of social policy, science, culture and humanitarian affairs, the deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Anatoly Lokot highly appreciated the elections in the republican parliament which have passed in Belarus:

- The greatest attention during the election campaign was involved by that fact that two opposition parties in general were eliminated from participation in elective process at the last stage. Candidates from these parties amicably wrote applications and left the lists. I think that it is the coordinated position. And I have the bases to consider that it is coordinated with the western community first of all. A certain demarche was necessary to the western organizations, but, frankly speaking, it did not turn out.

I had the meetings and conversations and I openly told them: certainly, you impoverished the elective campaign by the actions: the sharpness became less because of the absence of a number of candidates. But first of all the opposition in the republic struck blow to itself: before shutting the door with a bang and leaving, it is necessary to think how you will come back?

I should say that the elections in Belarus passed in full accordance with the republic legislation. It is very important! It is possible to criticize the national legislation for any separate provisions, but the most important question always consists in that, is the legislation observed or not?! Here everything was according to the law.

And in some moments we have to learn. For example, regarding the ensuring of equality of candidates’ access to mass media during the election campaign. In Belarus everything was in equal shares, everything was very accurate.
