Non-return point is passed in population “zombiing” of Ukraine

The famous Kiev historian and publicist Alexander Semenovich Karevin, the author of the book «Non-Russian Russia» answers the questions of the Internet portal «The world and we».
— The elections to the Verkhovna Rada have passed, its new structure overflowed with participants of punitive operation against Donbass is known, all signs of creation of fascist dictatorship are shown. How do the common residents of Ukraine treat it?
Many simply didn’t go to these elections. And people of absolutely different views both pro-Russian and anti-Russian. People didn’t believe that these elections will be honest and, judging by their results, their fears were fair. Though our authorities declare that it were the most fair and transparent elections for all history, but, in my opinion, everything is absolutely on the contrary. Having used passivity of voters, «party of war» which now dominates, could create the relevant structure of parliament. The situation in the increasing degree becomes aggravated and, really, the prospect of emergence of the fascist state with such «parliamentarians» becomes more and more obvious.
— Having considering such situation, do the persecutions to the Russian language and culture become stronger which were very essential before coming of frank nationalists to power?
Of course, now such activity accepted the character of hysteria. Often it is possible to hear categorical judgments in mass media that Pushkin and the Russian culture in general aren’t necessary to us.
I remembered the statement of one famous figure of the Ukrainian culture who declared that we won’t burn Pushkin right now, but such question is on the agenda. Thus, through some time it is possible to expect the fires from the Russian books.
— Also it is one more of signs which does the events in Ukraine very similar to events when last century the fascists came to the power in Germany?
Really, there is much general. It is the round-the-clock, hysterical promotion and support of Nazis from the large capital and fullest «zombiing» of the population by aggressive ideology. All main signs are available.
— What is the attitude towards the pro-Russian activists, can they carry out the activity at least to some extent, how does the present power treat them?
— If to speak about those who tried to carry out some actions, so the repressions are at full speed against them, especially in Southeast areas. Quite often the mass media openly declares about the arrests. Of course, all of them appear «agents of FSB», traitors.
And now any person can be accused of it in Ukraine and it isn’t difficult to fabricate the proof at all. Therefore on the one hand it became the method of intimidation of supporters of the Russian unity and on the other — the punitive mechanism which can be used to any objectionable person.
— Due to the known defeats of the Ukrainian army, elections to DNR and LNR, did the rhetoric of the authorities, the mass media under control to them exchange somehow? Did the self-confidence and appeals to new violence lower in their performances?
— The rhetoric didn’t exchange at all — everything remains still: «Absolute war!» Despite obvious defeat, they are in tune not for the peace, but for war.
«Party of war» dominates in society, at least in that part which it is audible. Therefore it isn’t necessary to wait for proper response from their party even on such catastrophic consequences.
— Do the common people still have a belief in this promotion or after all these events the opinion somehow changed?
Unfortunately, most of the population continues to trust this promotion. It is difficult for me to explain it logically —clever people, not silly in other questions, but believe in this nonsense absolutely non-critically. Such general insanity probably can be explained only with some psychothrone influence. Of course, nobody will tell about it, but, seemingly, the events are explained only by it. Clever people believe in such nonsense that simply you clutch at the head.
— All main Russian T. V. channels devote a set of programs to events in Ukraine. Also there is a large amount of exposing materials in the Internet. In what degree does this information arrive to the population of Ukraine and does it impact on a situation in the country?
— Nobody measured a share of those who watches all this, but it is known that broadcast of all Russian channels in Ukraine is stopped. The small part of the population has satellite plates, someone finds these programs in the Internet. But the majority of people isn’t occupied with information search and simply absorbs that shows «zombie-box» where the same things are shown on all channels. Therefore, unfortunately, the result of influence of these programs is very small.
— And what occurs in scientific community — perhaps, more educated people look at reality more «soberly», are less subject to groundless promotion?
Situation is the same. And people with academic degrees, on my supervision, even are more subject to propaganda influence. It is possible because, for example, the Ukrainian humanitarian intellectuals created all those nationalist stamps within the last 20 years which now use the Ukrainian mass media in large quantities.
In general, watching a condition of the most part of the Ukrainian society it is possible to note that in the course of its «zombiing» a certain point of a non-return is passed when even the instinct of self-preservation doesn’t become an occasion to refusal of false, destructive ideology.
On my supervision even if soon the economic situation will catastrophically worsen, there will be no payments of salaries and pensions, heating and electricity, it is hardly possible to expect mass actions and revolt against the existing power. Most likely, most of people will continue to believe the next dose of promotion that only Russia is guilty of all these troubles and will prepare for the next stage of opposition with the «artful» enemy.
All this says that very powerful, both external and internal forces are involved in a present situation in Ukraine, considerable resources are spent. And to correct this situation, very big efforts and, most likely, quite long time will be necessary.
