Down with the destructors of Moldova!

In recent years the anti-Moldavian, Romanian-unionist political forces undertake great efforts on falsification of history of Moldova and the blackening of the modern Moldavian statehood.

The purpose of these actions is the destruction of the Moldavian civil consciousness and elimination of the Moldavian state by its accession to Romania. This purposeful policy of unionists of Kishinev and Bucharest, unfortunately, doesn't meet the resolute repulse from political forces and civil society of Moldova.

Annually a reason for propaganda provocations against the modern Moldavian statehood is the date June 28, 1940.

The unionists, the pro-fascist pro-Romanian organizations and certain political leaders with the connivance of the authorities try to introduce the lie about “the Soviet occupation of Bessarabia” in public consciousness.

Thus, the truth about events which in historical and legal aspect are connected with formation process of the Moldavian republic in 1917-1918 is hidden.

It is known, that exactly during the revolutionary events of 1917 in Bessarabia, i.e. the East Moldova, the territory being as a part of Russia after 1812, began the process of national self-determination. The main political forces of the region and also the population, soldiers, peasants, workers, priests, the intellectuals supported the revival of the Moldavian statehood. The Moldavian Democratic Republic was formed on December 2, 1917 by the will of the people mass. However the process of the formation of new Moldavian statehood was interrupted at the beginning of 1918. Then, in the conditions of the First World War, Romania made military invasion and illegally occupied the Moldavian Democratic Republic. The occupation and then the accession of the Moldavian Democratic Republic to Romania was recognized illegal by the international experts and jurists as the Moldavian people didn't express their opinion through a referendum for elimination of the Moldavian statehood and accession of this territory to Romania.

The USA, the USSR, Japan never recognized the legality of the Romanian annexation of Bessarabia (the Moldavian Republic).

In 1924 at the Vienna conference the Soviet Union suggested Romania to carry out the plebiscite in the territory of Bessarabia under the international control and to give the chance to the population to decide the destiny on the basis of international law. Romania refused to carry out the plebiscite and for this reason, after 1924 it loses the international support of the claims to Bessarabia (the Moldavian Republic) which it violently attached in 1918.

On June 28, 1940, Romania gives Bessarabia to the Soviet Union on the basis of oral arrangements without military resistance, without a uniform written protest at the international and interstate level.

Thus, the preconditions for restoration of new Moldavian statehood are created, the beginning to which was given on December 2, 1917.

Despite the obvious legal violations which were allowed during the creation of the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic, it is obvious that the status of the Moldavian people as a part of the USSR was higher, than the position of the Moldavians as the part of Romania.

As a part of the Soviet Union, the tradition of the Moldavian statehood remained, which was appeared in 1359 and it was restored in 1917 and continued after 1940. The modern state Republic of Moldova has the legitimacy thanks to events of December 2, 1917 and June 28, 1940, when the Moldavian people have the right to self-determination and the development of the modern statehood.

Paris Treaty of 1947 defined the borders of Romania down the river Prut “on the basis of the Soviet-Romanian arrangements of June 28, 1940”. Any attempts of the Romanian revisionists to copy the event of 1940 contradict the international law and are the act of discredit of the Moldavian people and the Moldavian statehood.

The union of the Left Forces of Moldova, namely the Social - Democratic party of Moldova and the People's Socialist party of Moldova calls the patriotic forces of the republic, everyone whom our Homeland, the Republic of Moldova, is dear to reject the pressure of revisionists, the pro-fascist supporters of Great Romania who scoff at our historical past and destroy foundations of the modern Moldavian state.
