Hayk Babukhanyan: “The new geopolitical deal is created!”

The deputy of parliamentary fraction of the Republican Party of Armenia, the leader of the Constitutional Law Union, the expert of our portal Hayk Babukhanyan shared the reasons about the latest events on geopolitical space of the former Soviet Union:

- Armenia declared aspiration to enter the Customs Union and then the Eurasian Union. Visit of the president of our closest ally to our country emphasizes the level of our relations with Russia and means that cooperation between our countries becomes stronger. It is a message to the whole world which will please our friends and will afflict our enemies.

It is obvious that on a way of creation of the Eurasian Union it is necessary to solve a set of tasks in all spheres of activity. As for our entry into the Customs Union, we should pass on a road map. All these questions are in the agenda. In the field of our safety with Russia we are connected also by the bilateral contract, we have the Russian base, we together consist in ODKB — all this is a core of safety of Armenia, therefore. Visit of the president Putin will mark still big security of system of our safety.

We have to manage to protect our national system of values, and for this purpose we have to be integrated and unite with those countries and the people who have the system of values similar to us. Therefore, our introduction in the Customs Union and the Eurasian Union is caused not only by the need of safety, economic interests, but also a civilization factor.

As for the Vilnius summit, after it the new geopolitical deal will be created on the Eurasian continent in a certain measure, in particular in connection with a position of Ukraine, Moldova. It will be necessary to analyze the changes in the bilateral relations of many countries, between the European Union and the being created Eurasian Union. In a word, the political rhythm in the world changes and there is a need to synchronize the watch.

The choice issue of the European vector by Ukraine was considered solved, however the big wave of public discontent rose against it. It was opposed also by the Ukrainian businessmen as they faced the threat to lose huge profits because of European integration.

I think that Georgia needs to approach to some political and economic problems from sober positions. It is wrong when Georgia doesn’t open the Abkhazian railroad for the political reasons, thereby promotes blockade of Armenia. And at the same time Georgia participates in construction of Kars-Akhalkalaki railroad the aim of which is the transport isolation of Armenia. Transit freights of Azerbaijan pass through Georgia several times cheaper, than the Armenian freights.

For the last six years of close friendship with Turkey Georgia practically lost control in Adzharia, besides in this country really there was a problem with Islam distribution, the issue reached the collisions with police. That is, the friendship with Turkey and hostility with Russia turned back serious consequences for Georgia. I think our neighbors have to reconsider the foreign policy.

As for the Abkhazian railroad, 300−350 million dollars are required for restoration of its 80-kilometer site. I think that it is a solved task with support of the Russian side. And it will be favorable also to Georgia: both in economic, and in the political respect.
