Kharkov will reject the pressure of Nazis from Euromaidan

The questions of «The world and we» are answered by Igor Evgenyevich Massalov, the deputy of the Kharkov regional council of the fifth convocation, the chairman of Honour and Advantage Fund.

— How do the people in Kharkov treat the numerous provocations from fighters of «Euromaidan» including attempts of demolition of the monument to Lenin?

Rather powerful equipment is necessary for this purpose. The monument stood many years and disturbed nobody. The matter is not only in Lenin — nobody protects only this ideology. It is a question of traditions, history. On what basis the monument to Lenin has to be dismantled? With the same success the population of Kharkov can gather and dismantle the monument to Taras Shevchenko — considering that extremists shout about monuments to Lenin that is an idol, Shevchenko is an idol too.

Besides, Lenin, in essence, created Ukraine — attached the Donetsk and Krivoy Rog republic to Ukraine. Thus there was a big state. And demolition of the monument to Lenin in this context is the anti-Ukrainian action because they destroy a monument to the person who promoted the creation of this state.

— Is any information on the one who can try to realize this plan for monument demolition in Kharkov?

I think, it will be the visitors. Naturally, nobody in Kharkov will give the equipment for this purpose. Certainly, if only the mayor of Kharkov unexpectedly as it already happened, doesn’t come over to the side of the new friends. Naturally, there will be resistance and opposition. I consider that it promotes further strengthening of dissociation of Ukraine and its disorder because similar actions offend memory of the citizens of Kharkov and their self-respect, hopes deprive of them. They don’t see themselves in such state where everything collapses. Therefore they will have an aspiration to keep separate from this Ukraine which professes integrated nationalism.

— If to assume a situation, that tomorrow one thousand fighters from Maidan will arrive to Kharkov, will start dismantling the monument to Lenin, to arrange bloody provocations, so are any forces and communities in Kharkov which will be able adequately to reflect this attack?

There are such forces, of course. They are, maybe, insufficiently mobilized now. But if they are mobilized and will participate in it, so this force will grow, and it can grow to very serious quantity which will render worthy repulse to these nationalists.

In any case, such attempt from fascist fighters is already made twice — on March 8 and March 15, already there are two victims. While in Kharkov the people insufficiently well understand, that extremists already trained in Kiev can go far. Especially, considering that they are armed not only with cudgels, bits, chains, but also firearms. And it creates serious threat. Probably, Kharkov isn’t ready to such repulse today.

But I think that they will provoke a situation at which Kharkov will start arming too and simply to destroy them. The patience already ended, and now there will be a counter wave in response to this extremism and anti-constitutional actions which occur across all Ukraine.

— What is the mood in the Kharkov militia and special forces — how they will work in this situation?

I don’t think that the militia will take the part of extremists. It is difficult to say too whether it will be on the party of the citizens of Kharkov, considering that circumstance that Yanukovych betrayed «Berkut», internal troops, country, colleagues — betrayed everything that it is possible to betray. Naturally, there is a huge disappointment at these people. And only the deep internal spirit will allow them to do the duty up to the end.

In many respects it depends on the management of the Kharkov Ministry of Internal Affairs upon which the strongest pressure is put, considering that new owners who dictate how to behave came to this department. Therefore a lot of things will depend on the most different efforts, including, on as far as they can reject this dictatorship. In Dnepropetrovsk the militia accepted all these conditions of Kiev. It is difficult to say how it will be in Kharkov.

— Are the self-organization and actions similar to that occur now in Sevastopol possible for Kharkov?

It would be the most desirable because Kharkov is extreme east outpost along with Lugansk. And such actions would be apprehended here and all Southeast with support and understanding. Will the people who head the Kharkov area and the city have the will is a question. But if so occurred, it would be the act, worthy huge respect.

And the Crimea certainly, showed the highest courage, organization, and Sevastopol and Kerch really proved as hero cities. The position of the Crimea deserves all support. It has to win against this integrated hatred which goes from the Western Ukraine. The Crimea is able to do it even alone but if it has allies, it would be a victory of all Southeast.
