The people of the Crimea advocated for the union with Russia

The political scientist, the member of Coordination council of Ocean International Public Movement (IPM) of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the representative of the Russian Veche organization Andrey Nikolaevich Kratko tells about sources of accession to Russia.

— What is your assessment of the latest events in the Crimea? What objectives sought to achieve the people of the Crimea during mass actions?

There was that had to occur after all those events which were observed in Kiev. The people in the Crimea unambiguously apprehended an event in the capital as the armed revolution. Therefore there was a large-scale self-organization to counteract it.

In the beginning the protest was spontaneous and quite radical up to desire to seize public authorities. People saw what is created in the Western Ukraine and decided to take the power directly in hand. But there were organizers who could transfer this protest to the organized course.

And it was an important point. Because it wouldn’t turn out without dense, good contact with healthy part of the Crimean Tatar population. Among Tatars there is a large number of people who share our views, who advocate for the union with Russia. That we eventually also saw — the majority of Tatars don’t support Majlis.

Therefore the protest was transferred to the organized course and we achieved that wanted. We recognized that at present the only legitimate authority is the president Yanukovych though absolute majority of the population, both Russians, and Tatars, consider him as the traitor, the weak-willed person. But, nevertheless, he remained the legitimate president.

And the only legitimate authority in the Crimea we considered and consider the Supreme Council of the Crimea. Therefore all of us came to understanding that we support these representatives and we act in their support.

Further succession of events showed that the people of the Crimea gave this support in the majority.

For example, the law on a referendum under our pressure, organized by activists of the Crimean front of resistance, the organizations «Russian Veche» and «OCEAN» IPM was adopted. But the formulation of a question which was submitted for a referendum raised doubts: «Are you for the state independence of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea as a part of Ukraine on the basis of contracts and agreements?"

After the situation was a little stabilized, people attentively got a grasp of this formulation. Because this question was attempt to satisfy «both ours, and yours».

Certainly, such questions aren’t raised on a referendum. In one question there were two questions and, having answered «yes» to the first part, automatically answer «no» to the second part. Therefore it is necessary to be perplexed only how it was possible to think up in general. Experience showed that the political maturity of inhabitants of the Crimea won.

And the second, what excited then the inhabitants of the Crimea — will all results of our fight be betrayed by the new head of the government Aksenov? Russian Unity party ratings on the last elections didn’t give the grounds optimistically to look forward. It didn’t occur and we supported them because it is the legitimate, duly elected power.

— How the people in the Crimea treated the statements of Turchinov calling himself as the acting president of Ukraine, rather power settlement of performances of inhabitants of the Crimea? What was a role of national teams, how safety was ensured?

The people of the Crimea would be glad to welcome Mr. Turchinov on the earth, but only as the sacral victim. It was possible to recognize him at once as the inadequate idiot if he only tries to land at the airport of Simferopol.

Our people are organized and ready to a meeting in any manifestation of continental extremists, Nazis. If it is necessary to defend, it will occur at once. Certainly, very big support we were given both by militia and Crimean «Berkut». Recognition of powers of the government of the Crimea by them as the supreme body of the power on the peninsula was the major decision.

— How does the Majlis work now?

On February 28 there was an indicative example on spontaneous meeting under walls of the Supreme Council when the decision on a referendum was made. There was a person who told that he is the representative of Majlis. Also he apologized for disorders on February 26 under walls of the Supreme Council, for three victims during this opposition who were actually killed by fighters of «Right sector», being among the Tatar extremists. It is clear that the Majlis «sheltered» them and sent to the necessary course.

This person told that the Majlis of Tatars of the Crimea doesn’t want to have nothing in common with Refat Chubarov and with others pseudo leaders. It means that in Majlis now there is the confusion, and they try to separate from any radical actions. Because all understand how corrupted Chubarov is and it causes big discontent of the Crimean Tatar people. But once again I will note that the majority of Tatars adequately perceive a situation, positively perceive occurring changes and advocate for the union with Russia.

— What was the reaction to the events from the BSF of the Russian Federation?

As the inhabitant of Yalta I can tell — we have a sanatorium of the Black Sea fleet of the Russian Federation in the city and it is not a secret that there were two platoons of marines of the Russian Navy. For obvious reasons the guys didn’t give any comments at all. But their stay in Yalta caused huge enthusiasm in all residents.

All slogans of the people who took and taking now to the streets of the Crimea, are connected only with Russia. Ukraine is not «drag in» here under any circumstances.

And that now the Russian tricolours hang on official flag staffs over walls of the Supreme Council of the Crimea is hotly welcomed by inhabitants of the Crimea. The people of the Crimea is adjusted in favour of Russia. Though there are also supporters of the independent Crimea, creation of the relations on a contractual basis, but in this or that quality exclusively close union with Russia is supported by the vast majority of the population.
