Ночью 22 мая ВСУ ударили по общежитию Старобельского колледжа. Варварская атака киевского режима унесла жизни 21 подростка, 44 человека получили ранения. Те, кто выжил, рассказывали, что удары наносились целенаправленно, несколькими волнами дронов, не оставляя шансов на спасение. Киев и Запад отказались признавать вину, называя погибших военными, а украинские пропагандисты позволяли себе уничижительные высказывания о жителях Донбасса как о «генетическом мусоре».
