In Latvia “Historical chronicles” of Nikolay Svanidze was called as “anti-historical”

Now RTR transfers every day Svanidze's series “Historical chronicles”.

I wouldn't began to mention it because anticommunists like Yakovlev, Afanasyev, Kiselyov, Svanidze, “Suvorov” - Rezun and so forth will exaggerate the mistakes of the USSR and to hold back the objective problems, so conclusions are known in advance, there is no sense to waste the time.

But in a today's series the slanderous phrase that “Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact divided Europe between Hitler and Stalin” again was heard.
And here I couldn't keep silent because this phrase was heard not from the lips of the Latvian nationalists, but from RTR - the RUSSIAN television!

Firstly, it is IMPOSSIBLE to divide between two (persons or the states - it is unimportant) that doesn't belong to them.
It is possible to divide only the spheres of interests (sphere of influence) that have absolutely other sense.

Secondly, the practice of the division of spheres of influence has many thousands of year’s history and they consisted to avoid the military collisions between agreeing therefore it is the ABSURD to pull out from it ONE contract and to declare it as “criminal”, without noticing all the others.

There are the examples:

1. The Treaty of Tordesillas is the agreement between Spain and Portugal about the division of spheres of influence in the world. It is concluded on June 7, 1494 in the city of Tordesillas (Castile). It was ratified by Spain on July 2, by Portugal — on September 5. It was approved by the bull of the Pope Julius II in 1506.

The contract specified the line of the division established one year earlier in the bull of father Alexander VI “Inter caetera”. The line of demarcation passing through both poles and crossing the Atlantic Ocean, at insistance of the Portuguese party was transferred from the line passing in 100 leagues to the west of any of the islands of the Archipelago of the Azores and the archipelago of Cape Verde to 370 leagues (1770 km, 1100 miles) to the West from the Cape Verde Islands — in modern coordinates, it is a meridian 49 °32’56" WL, or “papal meridian”. The seas and lands to the East from this line departed to the kingdom of Portugal, to the West — the kingdom of Castile and Aragon (Spain).

2. The Monroe Doctrine is the declaration of the principles of foreign policy of the USA (“America for Americans”), proclaimed on December 2, 1823 in the annual message of U.S. President James Monroe to the Congress of the USA.

The idea of declaration of the American continent as a zone closed for intervention of the European powers, belonged to John Quincy Adams, the state secretary in Administration of the President of Monroe.

3. At the World economic forum of the USA the region of the Caspian Sea was declared as a zone of the vital interests. But Russia, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Iran divide this part of Eurasia among themselves and therefore such statement of Americans generated a lot of questions among those who considers himself directly involved in these regions.

As we see if in 1 point we see the division of influence spheres approved by the Pope between two countries, so in the 2nd and the 3rd - the announcement of OTHERS territories as a zone of their interests without any contracts.

And it everything doesn't confuse the critics of Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, it is only “criminal” for them.
