Kiev, the mother of the Russian cities, turns into the capital of the Ukrainian chauvinism and frankly gangster nationalism

The Party of Regions and its ally Communist party suffered a crushing defeat on elections in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in Kiev. The representatives of nationalist opposition won in 12 of 13 one-mandatory districts. The total result of the Party of Regions and KPU in the capital didn't exceed 20 %. Besides, the extreme Russophobes and neo-Nazis in the person of Svoboda party passed in legislature.

Kiev, the mother of the Russian cities, turns into the capital of the Ukrainian chauvinism and frankly gangster nationalism in public. Similar situation develops in other regions of the central Ukraine. The Russian Club pays attention to the reasons of this situation and offers a possible way of its correction.

Contrary to long-term xenophobic promotion and planting by the authorities of official mononational ideology, Ukraine remains the state of two main nations: Russian and Ukrainian. Kiev always was and will be various in the ethno-linguistic relation. Though the Russians are while in political minority, but this is the influential minority acting as a basis for the power and representation of the Southeast in Kiev.

Being built in the concept of the nationalist state, oppressing the Russian-speaking part of the citizens, the Party of Regions actually betrayed the voters. The Party of Regions didn't resist the pressure of the USA and the European Union, realizing the doctrine of “anti-Russian Ukraine” of Bzhezinsky.

Making advances to the Ukrainian chauvinists, but, at the same time, without wishing to lose the Russian-speaking electorate which brought it to power, the Party of Regions appeared between two chairs. Among the reasons which have led to ignoring of the Party of Regions before the trusting voters trusting is the refusal which has sounded on the eve of elections to fulfil the requirement of the Law “Of the bases of the state language policy” in Kiev and area. Then the city power showed inadmissible weakness before the pressure of chauvinists.

At the same time it is appreciable that there is a huge demand for the Russian language in Kiev: after the falling of anti-Russian orange regime, the number of advertising, signs, announcements, spontaneous toponymy in the Russian language sharply grew, the volume of the Russian-speaking communication in mass media increases. The education and office-work systems, Russification of names of streets and the areas, film distribution and TV dubbing-in - series etc are on turn.

The Kiev Russian Club considers a question of support of the Russian language and Russian culture as the extremely basic. The relation to it as to the historical and spiritual capital of Sacred Russia, instead of as to the big village and a double-exit courtyard can be a basis of the correct policy in Kiev. The names of Nikolay Gogol, Mikhail Bulgakov, Victor Nekrasov, Victor Vasnetsov, Mikhail Vrubel, Innokenti Annensky, Nikolay Berdyaev, Alexander Vertinsky and many other creators of high culture are inseparably linked with Kiev. Grigory Skovoroda, Nikolay Kostomarov, Mikhail Staritsky, Ivan and Igor Sikorsky –are also the integral part of the Kiev and Russian history.

The Party of Regions should get rid of ideological ambivalence, having accurately registered in the program a problem of preservation and development in the territory of Ukraine of the Russian language and culture, along with the Ukrainian language and culture and also soon to begin the process of federalization of Ukraine. Only the consecutive upholding of interests of the voters can bring a victory to the Party of Regions. It is not necessary to look for supporters among the Ukrainian nationalists in hope to “play” the self-assured enemies - they never become its supporters! Having admitting the ideologies of the Ukrainian nationalism let even moderated, the Party of Regions digs a hole to itself.

Today the fascists paralyse the work of district committees – tomorrow will block the Presidential Administration, the Verkhovna Rada, Ministry, local administrations. It is necessary to oppose the powerful anti-fascist movement to neo-Nazis uniting the organizations and people of different nationalities. The elections of the Kiev City Council are ahead and, sooner or later, the mayor of Kiev. Judging by the results of last elections, the future doesn't promise something perspective to the Party of Regions.

The low appearance in the Southeast of Ukraine, connected with dissociation and the minimum activity of voters, especially depresses it against the nationalist passionarity in the Centre and in the west of Ukraine, is one of the key reasons of present defeat of the Party of Regions and KPU.

Consolidation of anti-fascists is necessary for a victory in different regions of Ukraine, an important role in which can play the Russian-speaking citizens of our country. They can become a kernel of such anti-fascist movement. It is time to do conclusions. There is no time to be lost!
