Opposition: Maidan will stand before full change of the power in the country

The People’s Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from Batkivshchyna party Alexander Mikhaylovich Briginets answers the questions of the Internet portal «The world and we».

— Are any forces which organized the Maidan and operate it? Are the opposition parties, the Ukrainian oligarchs and the western countries, the representatives of which constantly appear on the Maidan such forces?

On the Maidan there are representatives of «Batkivshchyna» and «Udar», but it doesn’t mean that they thought up the Maidan and brought the people to it. Simply those problems, with which the people went outside, are close to opposition. Therefore people took to the streets without any influence from opposition forces on them.

The actions of oligarchic circles can’t bring people to streets because not the European integration was actually the main cause of their going out — it was a minor question. In this case the main reason which forced the people to come to the square is the danger of transformation of Ukraine in a mode of type of Russia or Belarus. It is connected with that in Ukraine the power never used forces against unarmed people that constantly occurs in our neighbouring, «friendly» countries. And people left for this reason.

They understood that if once will pass a situation with the use of force, it becomes already norm for the second time — it became the main reason of the Maidan. Until then while there will be a danger of creation not until the end of the democratic state, so-called adjustable democracy when the force can be used against peace citizens, until then Maidan will be. Therefore the name «Euromaidan» isn’t absolutely exact. Because the Euromaidan is the name which arose at the first moment of creation of the student’s, political Maidan supported even by the power.

But after November 30 each use of force caused new response. Therefore if it was in interests of Europe or other country, we would see the real support of the Maidan through blocking of accounts of the Ukrainian power abroad. This main thing that it is necessary to make first of all — to block the account abroad of those who finances the events from the power and controls a situation. But it didn’t occur. Therefore it is impossible to tell that the events on the Maidan become in interests of Europe or the USA — there were no adequate actions from them though it seems to us that the mode it deserved for a long time.

As for oligarchs, so if they really would have interests in the events on the Maidan, they would bring deputies controlled by them out of structure of the presidential majority for a long time. And there would be absolutely other situation in the country because these deputies would began to balance between two forces and, thus, would regulate a situation in the country. But it didn’t occur too. Therefore it is impossible to say that these parties initiated or are directly interested in the Maidan because there are no signs which would confirm it.

The same situation is with the European politicians. Those slogans and appeals with which the people were on the Maidan, are close to the European politicians who support the same values. Therefore it isn’t strange that there are not pro-imperious politicians from Russia of Ukraine and Belarus, but there are those politicians who defend democratic, European values — opposition Ukrainian forces, the American and European politicians. The reason is not in the one who is interested in it, but with what values it coincides. It is unambiguous that it precisely doesn’t coincide with the Russian values.

— What is the ultimate goal of the Maidan? When it will be told, that the objectives are achieved and the Maidan can disperse?

Difference of today’s situation on the Maidan from that which was 9 years ago is that then the Maidan stood up for the specific person and the purpose. Today the Maidan stands for the purpose of creation of the real democratic state. I think that the only situation when somebody will be able to urge it to disperse, will arise in case of a guarantee of creation of the civilized state. In Ukraine it is, first of all, the return of the constitution of 2004 which can be made at any time. The second, it purposes of early parliamentary and presidential election as a certain compromise which can say that the state followed a way of democratic changes and won’t work more against citizens. And this criminal business against militiamen who were involved in dispersal and also the political resignations of people who were guilty what occurred.

But while we only heard that the President is ready on political resignations of those who prepared the contract with the European Union, instead of those who is guilty in beating of people. Moreover, against protesters today there is that «Berkut» in the structure of which there are those unpunished militiamen participating in dispersal. Therefore, naturally, the relation of people is very negative to that occurs in the country. Thus, the obligatory punishment of all guilty and the termination of prosecution of participants of national protest processes is necessary.

Today we see that the power changed tactics — now the people not in form, but without form are opposed by people. They burn down the cars, attack the activists. Therefore political punishment of those who is guilty in this history is extremely necessary. After that some processes which become the reason of change of a situation in the country and the terminations power pressure upon society can begin.

— Is it right that European integration and signing of the agreement on association with EU isn’t necessary on the agenda of the Maidan now?

There is such purpose, but it isn’t the main subject today. Because we understand — Yanukovych isn’t capable to sign these European integration documents. Therefore today the main issue is this change of the power and contract signing by the new power. Yanukovych can’t make it owing to that he depends on Russia. This is the person who recognized that isn’t the sovereign president. He told that to sign the contract with the European Union, he needs Putin’s presence. It is clear in gangster dismantling— when the person comes to agree, he should provide «roof» presence. But such situation develops in connection with the offered tripartite commission «Ukraine — Russia — EU». Whether is it possible to present a situation when Russia will tell that can’t sign any contract if there would be no president of Ukraine at negotiations, for example, Moldova or Turkmenistan? ! It is poorly trusted. And the president of Ukraine quite so also arrived. That is, he doesn’t perceive Ukraine as the independent state. Naturally, people after that don’t perceive him as president any more, but as representative of Putin in Ukraine.

— What do you think of Vladimir Putin’s statement that the Euromaidan in 2013 is obvious false start and all this was planned for 2015?

Firstly, it can’t be planned in any way and the national protest never can be the false start. Because its purpose is not the presidential election or any others. The person, who told it, understands nothing that occurs in the country.

— What is your relation to agreements on December 17? In your opinion, as far as they are favourable to Ukraine?

The agreement, at which the country has to report quarterly about the state and to be dependent on other country, can’t be favourable. On condition of a response at any time such contract can’t be favourable to one subject of managing. Thus, these contracts, certainly, are unprofitable for Ukraine. And the only thing that occurred — Putin gave money to Yanukovych that he kept in power.

— What are your forecasts how a situation will be further?

I can tell that the situation in the country will become aggravated further. For a large number of politicians it will be necessary to make a choice — or they will remain in the Ukrainian policy, or they will «be taken away». And it seems to me that the common sense will win. More and more politicians who will understand that Yanukovych has no chances to win elections of 2015 will be in team of the Party of Regions. And, to keep themselves, to keep the places in policy and the money, they should refuse the president and not to go together with him.

In this situation hysteric of Yanukovych will more and more accrue because he doesn’t control a situation in the country though he doesn’t control it now because doesn’t control money of the country and political will of the state — without Russia he can’t make something any more.

And a situation will promptly worsen personally for him. But this deterioration will be, certainly, on advantage to Ukraine. How Russia will behave in this situation? It will look for ways of pressure upon different Ukrainian business groups, will look for preferences for them and to buy our oligarchs.

But I think that they already have enough opportunities not to give in to it and to be brighter. I think that they won’t do as Medvedchuk who declared that is ready to be at war with own people. And it seems to me that the liberal wing of the Party of Regions which now is in full «shelter» which has no chance to influence the president, will make important decisions and will start playing the role. I think that the situation will develop thus.
