The peace in the Caucasus: the mission impossible together with Saakashvili and EU…

It is very inconvenient for me, as the honest person and the citizen of France, the country declaring itself as the defender of human rights all over the world, to tell about scandalous things of brazen interference of the European countries in affairs of the Caucasian states. But honesty is a quality of the person which doesn't depend on his national identity …

In recent years the world not once became the witness of how the European states, first of all, those who enter into the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, having neglecting the laws of international law, rouse the war fire in the most different corners of Earth in absolutely shameless way.

The last demonstration to it is the incident in the Syrian village Al-Khoula where over 100 killed people were found. It seems that the inspirers and sponsors of this action finally believed in the ability impudently to say the lie, considering that all trust them. Even prior to the beginning of the official investigation of a case of mass death of the civilians, they right accused the Syrian governmental armies as responsible for the punishment though literally in a day it became known that the shots at a short distance or blows of knife in essentials organs became the cause of death … Such incident could be favorable only to those who wants to rouse the military aggression against Syria, but in any way not to the Syrian authorities which should finish the terrorism threat in the country as soon as possible.

It seems that the organizers of cruel murder of people in Al-Khoula refuse the people the right to do logic conclusions, differently they wouldn't behave thus.
Iraq, Yugoslavia, again Iraq, Libya, everywhere, where people lived rather well without external influence, everywhere, where the so-called “peacekeepers” appeared, the state system fell and the chaos came from the outside.

Now, to fill “weapon mafia” with the orders and to soften the consequences of an economic crisis, the Caucasus is taken under a sight.

I had to be there for many times. I have to say that very friendly and pleasant people live in the Caucasus. Being there, you right have a feeling that you met with not simple pleasant people, but with old dear friends.

From frequent communication with the Georgian colleagues I know a situation in this region, I know with what hatred and rage treat the president Saakashvili both in Georgia and in its former republics South Ossetia and Abkhazia which has separated after five-day war of August, 2008.
In 2 months after the armed conflict unleashed by Saakashvili, the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM) began the activity. More than 200 civil observers were sent to Georgia as EU member states. The official purpose of EUMM’s work is supervision over performance of the agreement of August 12, 2008, signed by Tbilisi and Moscow through intermediary of EU and also prevention of new armed conflict and assistance to safety of the locals in the territories adjacent to administrative borders of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Also the observers should promote the creation of the atmosphere of trust in these territories, watch the observance of human rights.

It is beautiful on paper, but in practice it turns out on the contrary: the life and human health are threatened by those who should protect them.

It is unpleasant to me to speak about it, but the European observers instead of promoting the peaceful settlement of the conflict between Georgia and its former territories, on the contrary aspire to aggravate it. They are not interested in the peace in the Caucasus at all.

My companion, who works in EUMM, told that the observers pay money to the needy and mentally sick Georgians living in border area for demonstrative violation of border between Georgia and South Ossetia in sight of the Russian frontier guards.

Then the employees of mission fix process of transition of border on video equipment and show as “objective” proofs of “infringements of the rights of the Georgian population on implementation of different types of activity in border area”.

According to my friend, the EUMM employees paid more than 8000 US dollars to the participants of such provocations only in April of this year. Thus everyone received from 100 to 300 dollars that is rather large amount for rather poor Georgia.

Besides, his some colleagues participated in provocations, trying to cause the Russian frontier guards on conversation that is strictly forbidden by EUMM mandate. Thus the reaction of frontier guards is shot by video camera. Also his colleagues said more than once that this task should be carried out because they are paid money not for staying in Georgia, but for concrete work.
Besides, the people, wishing to go on business or to relatives to South Ossetia or Abkhazia, force to write the applications after return “about humiliation of their advantage by the Russian frontier guards”, who carry out the examination of cargoes, taken through border. Thus the staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia doesn't carry out such control in a pointed manner.
Moreover, as shows the recent report of the EUMM head Andrzej Tyszkiewicz, the situation in the region is reported one-sidedly. So, the data on terrorist actions of the Georgian party in the Galsk region of Abkhazia weren't given in this report as a result of which 11 people were killed for the last half a year.

How to understand it if the whole world got to know just next day about atrocities of the Russians in Chechnya, about slaughter which the Serbians made in Kosovo, crimes of Assad regime in Al-Khoula.

Having known these scandalous things, I was scared for my friends there, in the Caucasus, as the frontier guards are ordinary people who can take provocations for threat and then the blood will be shed. And as the history shows, it is one step from small provocation to full-scale war. And it is much easier to unleash the war than to finish it.

And here I think that the establishment of democracy values at any cost or simply normal safe life of people is above all and it doesn’t matter where, in the Syrian village or in the Abkhazian village.

Thus, no matter how sad to recognize we see the next example of policy of “double standards”, in EUMM activity as well as other similar structures and the used methods violate the human rights with assistance of official bodies of EU.
