Vladimir Voronin: “Time is started up”

The political situation in Moldova is far from stability. Actually, today the matter is about the choice of the country future. The former president, the chairman of the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova Vladimir Voronin spoke about it in the performance at opening of session of parliament:

- Today is very important day. Today the ruling majority should openly, all over the country show the true relation to the right of the people of the Republic of Moldova on own opinion, to its right to an independent democratic choice. Today Alliance fractions for the European integration pass the most important examination for democratic character.

It is known that the Party of Communists, having exercising the right, introduced the bill in parliament of carrying out a legislative, all-republican referendum on accession of the Republic of Moldova to the Customs Union of Russia-Belarus-Kazakhstan. We also made it including, relying on inquiry from initiative group on carrying out the referendum, which collected more than 230 000 signatures of our citizens.

I will remind that from the very beginning we put forward this initiative as crisis management initiative, capable in the shortest period, already in the next year essentially to change the economic and social situation of our country and its citizens to the best. The price reduction of gas and energy carriers more than twice, duty-free trade on spaces of the huge market, reliable protection of our citizens and labor migrants in Russia, fast formation of conditions for industrial development and growth of workplaces, formation of new fundamental preconditions for the solution of the Transnistrian problem.

All these arguments were offered by us at the moment of promotion of this initiative and remain firm to present day. The representatives of Alliance couldn't give any serious counterargument in reply to these arguments. Behind the unique demagogical argument – allegedly Alliance isn't going to betray the European ideals in exchange for cheap gas.

All these misters considering themselves as democrats and liberals amicably pretended that didn't understand the main thing in our position. We demand the clarification of not their personal opinion of the Customs Union! The referendum is carried out only to hear the people voice. We, the communists, parliamentary opposition, do not ask something for ourselves: we do not ask the power, don't shout “down with Alliance”. In full compliance with the Constitution, we simply demand that, at last, it was given the word to its majesty people.

Both the people solve, so will be! If it won't support the entry into the Customs Union, so it means the truth remains behind Alliance. If it will support, it means that the Alliance become the history as the parliament which has found forces and courage to leave the crisis, having addressed to society for the saving decision. Exactly so we put a question. The valid following to the European ideals and freedoms and then the referendum would be or the European demagogy and economic Auschwitz in which Moldova lives for three years.

And still something about the European ideals and devotion to them. The European choice was devoted by the ruling majority in riots on April 7, 2009. When you unanimously organized and then consecrated this vandalism as the Day of Freedom. The rule of law and democracy indulged you when you distributed the positions on party algorithm, when you changed the Code about elections on the eve of elections, when you, having crushed the Constitution, made raider capture of the Republic of Moldova and usurped the government in darkness on March 16, 2012.

If you call the closing of NIT TV channel with million audience as the European choice, if this choice consists in glorification of Nazi criminals and the organization of unionist marches, so follow this choice, so to speak, in personal order. But why you torment the people?! If for you the European choice are the fascist verdicts about a ban of communistic symbolic, violation of memorials in honor of heroes of the Great Patriotic War, if this choice is reduced to inauguration of the Kishinev streets in honor of Antonescu, if the European choice is a closing of hundreds schools, hospitals and gangsterism in the power, look for any other country for such European integration. Moldova doesn't want to be such country more! Also won't be!

Also it is not necessary to flaunt the compliments which to you are told by the European officials. It would be better for these officials to talk to the Moldavian people and to find out why so happened that for the last three years the supporters of the European integration became three times less than in 2009 and the number of supporters of the Customs Union makes already 60 percent today? And after all for preservation both the own authority and authority of the European Union in the opinion of the Moldavian society, it is required a little from the representatives of the European structures– to be the basic defenders of democratic freedoms in Moldova, instead of conductors of geopolitical games of McCarthyism and cold war time.

But time of a choice came! The misters from Alliance pledge a word to the people! Return the right of sovereignty! Let the people make the decision how to live, how to develop, how to protect the families and home! It is not necessary to torment the people more!

Today we offer the most normal conditions of such fatal decision once again. Believe each following time the condition will be extremely worse, because they will be put without mediation of parliamentary opposition. And, the last: whatever decision you make today, a question of carrying out of a legislative republican referendum we will submit for parliament discussion constantly, until it won't be accepted. And nobody gives the guarantees that you, Alliance, still have enough time for reflection.
