Was the general Dumbadze killed by order of Saakashvili by means of the CIA?

According to mass media, the murderers were two. They were in masks. They came by motorcycle to the house No. 30 on Rublevskoye Highway and fired Dumbadze point-blank. The general, seemingly, waited for someone …. He died immediately. Later the motorcycle of the murderers was found thrown in the yards. Now the investigation interrogates the witnesses of the murder.

Who was the general Dumbadze? Why did his death cause such squall of responses both in Russia, Georgia and in the Caucasus as a whole? Roman Dumbadze was born in 1964. In 1987 he graduated from Tbilisi high artillery command Red banner college awards of the Red star award of the name of 26 Baku commissioners. The rank of the major general was appropriated to him by the decree of Edward Shevardnadze in 1998. And since the beginning of the 1990th years, Dumbadze ordered the 25th motorized infantry subdivision of the Ministry of Defence of Georgia billeted in Adzharia.

In the spring of 2004 there was an acute crisis in the relations between the authorities of Georgia led by just come to power Saakashvili and the leader of the Adzharian autonomy Aslan Abashidze. And the general Dumbadze declared then the non-obedience to the president Mikheil Saakashvili.

In reply Georgia put Dumbadze on the international wanted list. The general prosecutor declared that he should be arrested and prosecuted as the traitor, who refused to execute the orders of the Supreme Commander. At the same time Dumbadze was accused of the creation of illegal paramilitary groups, storage of the weapon and explosives – rather traditional set …

In May 2004, when the autonomy of Adzharia was actually liquidated by the way of force, it was declared that the general Dumbadze voluntary was given to law enforcement agencies of Georgia. Though, the number of experts considers that he was grasped as a result of special operation of the Georgian security officers. More than a year Roman Dumbadze was in a pre-trial detention and in 2006 was condemned to 17 years of imprisonment by the Batumi city court because of high treason.

But the story didn't end. After the military accident which has followed after the attempt to grasp South Ossetia by force, the Georgian party transferred Roman Dumbadze to Russia in August 2008 and the Russian side transferred on the bridge through the river Inguri 12 captured Georgian military men in exchange. Everyone who saw the remarkable film “Dead season” represents how it was occurred.

Dumbadze lived in Moscow. He answered the following to the charges of the treachery, sounding in the homeland: “I wouldn’t recognize my release from post as it occurred illegally. The Supreme Commander accused me of the homeland treachery. I never was the traitor of the homeland, the people. So how I received Vakhtang Gorgasali’s awards of the second and third degree? I was the national hero of the country till 2004. Since what time I became a traitor?”

When it became known about the death of the general, there were comments right now. The known Russian political scientist Vitaly Tretyakov, having the reputation of very acute expert, wrote in the blog: “The murder of the former Georgian general Roman Dumbadze in Moscow too reminds the political murder revenge. If it is so, the agents of intelligence services of some states freely act in Moscow”.

The Georgian authorities, naturally, are silent, but the opposition stated the opinion. The leader of the Labour party Shalva Natelashvili who always openly tells the point of view, declared to the Alia newspaper that “Dumbadze is killed by Merabishvili's service”. That is, he directly accused the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia which is directed by Vano Merabishvili of murder of the general.

Natelashvili explained why the murder was committed. He reported that “the main persons involved in Adzharian events are killed and it doesn't enter into any interests except Saakashvili”. According to his words, the close to Aslan Abashidze ex-minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Dzhemal Gogitidze and the deputy minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Elgudzha Dzhincharadze were killed in recent years. The leader of the Labourites considers that “Dumbadze did much more courageously than Abashidze who guaranteed Saakashvili that won't help opposition. Such arrangement didn't take place with other participants of Adzharian events, and now they clear “field” of them”.

This point of view is shared also by Tengiz Kitovani who being afraid for his life left Georgia. He is sure that it is necessary to the president Saakashvili to give the order and the politician or the military man who is disliked by president, will be killed. Kitovani who was the last with whom communicated Dumbadze before the death, is convinced: “Very powerful political forces stand for the agents”.

It is known that the general Dumbadze supported the party “United opposition” led by known Georgian politician Nino Burjanadze. The Georgian mass media reported that he intends to return to Georgia from Russia to help the forces which consider that Mikheil Saakashvili's course conducts the country to death. Here that Roman Dumbadze spoke about it: “If the regime of the president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili uses the bludgeons against us, we will answer the same, will throw stones – we will answer with stones, use the weapon – the people will answer the same. The question of resignation of Saakashvili is not so political, as it is the question of “to be or not to be to the Georgian people”. I know precisely that after Saakashvili's leaving, the relation of Russia and Georgia become not only good-neighbourly, but also partner. It won't prevent Georgia to improve the same relations with the USA and the European Union”.

But the matter is not only of participation of the Georgian intelligence services in Roman Dumbadze's murder, many experts consider that this murder was made within wider scenario which provides the fastest accession of Georgia to NATO. On May 21, Mikheil Saakashvili declared in Chicago: “I think that Georgia more than ever has very good chances (to become the member of NATO) and if our progress proceeds as now and it will surely proceed, so we will be in the best form to that summit. Also it will be very difficult to explain, why they don't admit Georgia to NATO. Though, it is necessary to work still much for this purpose”.

And that this “work” was successful, it is necessary to put out of the way those who resists to harmful policy of Georgia. The general Dumbadze disturbed Mikheil Saakashvili very much … It is clear that this impudent action couldn't be executed by the Georgian intelligence services independently, after all it is widely known that all of them are directed by the specialists from similar structures of the USA.
