Ministry of Information and NATO are new anti-Russian steps of the Ukrainian power

The political scientist, the director of the Kiev Centre of Political Researches and Conflictology Mikhail Borisovich Pogrebinsky tells in interview to «The World and we» about prospects of a survival of the new Ukrainian government and new instruments of mass media control.
— How capable the new coalition in the Verkhovna Rada will be? Are any insolvable contradictions between its participants?
Now it is difficult to say. In many respects it depends on that program which the new government will realize. In the government there are really internal contradictions between the prime minister and that team which is focused on Poroshenko and also that part which, seemingly, in general is focused only on the American Embassy.
The degree of coordination of parliament work will depend on how they will manage to agree, what bills will bring. But it is clear that problems will be at least because there many nonprofessional people with ambitions who will try to bend the line to solve only the problems. And even if the government and the president will decide that it is necessary to look for some compromise with Donbass, they will prevent it to make.
Therefore the internal contradictions and the conflicts connected with «party of war» and absolutely «turretless» and more loyal people who take the responsibility for a situation in the country are outlined in the coalition.
What do you think of the Ministry of Information Policy creation in Ukraine? Many experts note that on the purposes and tasks it almost completely corresponds to the Goebbels Ministry of National Education and Promotion. Whether there is such compliance?
I don’t want to compare this structure to Goebbels department. It is possible to use everything for large-scale promotion. Yury Stets who was appointed as the head of the Ministry of Information, was in charge long time on «the 5th channel» which they called the channel of honest news. And, of course, it was purely propaganda channel of all 10 years of its existence. Therefore it is clear that this ministry will be engaged in the development of information stamps and the corresponding control of information space.
It is obvious that all this will be supported, including, by parliamentary committee on freedom of speech and information which is headed by Victoria Syumar. She always lived on the American grants and headed the Institute of mass information. And she clearly told that now the main thing is to shut a mouth to all critics of the present power. It is her position and she considers that if there is the war, there is nothing to hesitate in a choice of methods for achievement of this purpose.
It is clear, that it is propaganda structure which will exercise control over an information field. And any European norms are ignored long ago.
— How realistic is the removal of the extra block status from Ukraine and the subsequent accession to NATO?
I think that this structure of parliament will quite understandable vote for any anti-Russian resolution and the law, it will be easy to collect more than 250 votes. In this sense the adoption of law on refusal of the extra block status isn’t surprising at all. But I don’t believe that there are prospects of the accession to NATO.
Though taking into account how the situation is strained now, the probability is high that the parties will go «for broke». In the last year of stay in power Obama can take a number of very risky steps.
Also the recent message of Vladimir Putin to Federal Assembly testifies about the situation won’t be softened from Russia.
All this can lead to such degree of an aggravation of a situation when the USA apply the direct pressure upon opponents of the entry of Ukraine into NATO, will manage to break the resistance of them in «intra NATO» community that to make this decision in an explicit form.
At the moment, apparently, the circumstances don’t allow to make it. But the situation changes so promptly towards confrontation strengthening that I wouldn’t begin to exclude probability of such succession of events completely.
